Privacy Policy

Citybrk ("the app," "we," "us") is developed and published by Citybrk. This policy explains how the app handles your information — the short version is: it doesn't collect any.

The short version

Citybrk works entirely on your device. It reads the photo and video library already on your phone, organizes it into trips, cities, and countries, and keeps everything it learns in a local database on your device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is sent to a server, and there is no server — Citybrk does not operate any backend, analytics service, advertising network, or third-party SDK that your data could pass through.

What Citybrk accesses, and why

• Photo and video library access. Citybrk asks for permission to read your device's photo library (on iOS, via NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription; on Android, via the READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO / READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED permissions). This is the only permission the app requests. It's used to read the photos and videos already in your library — including their embedded date and GPS metadata, where present — so the app can group them into trips and identify the cities and countries you visited. Your media files are never copied, moved, or modified; Citybrk reads them in place.
• Location data from photo metadata. If a photo or video has GPS coordinates embedded in it by your device's camera, Citybrk reads those coordinates to identify the city and country it was taken in. This lookup happens entirely on-device, using an offline geocoding dataset bundled with the app — no coordinates are ever sent to an external geocoding service or any other server. Citybrk does not request live location access from your device's location services, and does not track your location.

What Citybrk stores

Everything Citybrk learns — trip groupings, city and country names, your saved favorites, and your display preferences — is stored in a local database on your device only. This data:

• Never leaves your device.
• Is not backed up by Citybrk to any cloud service (your device's own OS-level backup, like iCloud or Android backup, may include it as part of a normal device backup — that's between you and your device, not something Citybrk initiates).
• Is deleted when you uninstall the app.

What Citybrk does not do

• Does not create user accounts, and does not require you to sign in.
• Does not use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs of any kind.
• Does not include in-app purchases or subscriptions.
• Does not share, sell, or transmit your photos, videos, metadata, or any data derived from them to us, to advertisers, or to any other third party — because none of it ever leaves your device in the first place.
• Does not use cookies or any similar tracking technology (the app has no web component to place them in).

Children's privacy

Citybrk does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all. The app is not directed at children specifically, but its local-only design means there is no data collection to be concerned about regardless of a user's age.

Changes to this policy

If Citybrk's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the revision. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
